fall.

...has been way, way too busy.

I'm co-coaching the Wushu team here at the University of Oregon, and my classes seem to be giving more workload than I estimated. Hmm. Exams tomorrow and next week but, dear god, can I not focus!

..

Mrh!

After today's training session, I just wanted to train more and more. My knee's still injured, but I've got no complaints; I just want to get better. Make team in two years. Nandu in 6 months. /sigh

I love it more than anything (more than maru the cat)(okay maybe), but its also somehow holding me back from the 'realistic' aspect of school in relation to my career.

My current 'art' courses have been incredible dissatisfying in that they're teaching me how useless vanilla-design is for 90% of the population. It gets worse as I weave through TED.com. Design-thinking, on the other hand, is what the world needs to solve problems in the most semantic way possible. Unfortunately I'm not an architect, engineer, or physician; I can only make semi-pretty pictures and throw a mean kick. What good is that? Not sure. Bruce Lee change plenty of lives shirtless, and Banksy makes urban spaces interesting.

These weeks have been amazing, but those thoughts have been tearing little holes in the back of my head where the good moods sometimes fall out of. Its not a bad thing, just a happen-stance of change...like walking into an ocean mid-winter, which I've done, it was really, really cold, but facing waves at 1 am when the tide gets crazy made me feel all sorts of manly, ohh yeah.

...that's growing up, right? /shrug

Soon I'll be working on some shirts for student groups, posters, and hopefully some personal projects in the coming months. I've neglected any sort of creative work but I guess its just that time of year.

School's been a real crimp on my progress but lately I've taken on both it and commissioned works and it's been stressful but beneficial to my productivity (my grade not so much but as long as I'm passing it should be fine). I'm going to take it upon myself to do as much as possible to reach out to campus clubs and organizations and design their goods....for FREE. I'm going to be the viral print-whore that the campus Arts department only wished that they could have. Oh well.

In the mean time, I really should stop procrastinating on that website...hah.

Lately I've found that after doing some tutorials created by the awesome *Shinybinary my practice and exploration of new techniques and content has been down the drain, so for the pre-winter term break my goals are as follows:

1. establish a regular sketch routine (any exercise), at least 15-45 min. *every* day.

2. establish a regular photoshop/illustrator run or tutorial, at least twice a week.

...not hard, right? Right. It'll also help to be going back to Arizona, where nothing ever happens. Alright. Time to get busier.

In the mean time, have a happy chriskwanchanuckewyears.

many many messages! Thanks to you all for commenting/faving stuff in the past month...and apologies for my lack of activity (school work's been taxing, especially drawing, which I'm intent on getting better at). I'll definitely be done with my third piece of the short series this week and really want to start more new material with some friend's portraits. Still, ugh! Drawing! People in particular. character design is definitely not my niche.

again, thanks!
